Psychotherapeutic parable about a glass of water.

stakan_s_vodoi_pritcha.jpgThe psychotherapy teacher, holding a glass filled with water in his outstretched hand, asked the students.

- How much do you think the glass weighs?

Students began to make guesses

- 250 grams! No, 350! Maybe even 400! – hypotheses were heard.

- In order to find out for sure, you need to weigh the glass. But that is not the question.

The question is how much will it weigh if I hold it for 5 minutes?

- It will weigh the same!

- I agree, his weight will not change, but what if it’s not 5 minutes but an hour?

- Most likely you will get tired! The hand will no longer be able to bear it!

- What if it’s a day? This is unreal! You will have a cramp.

- So does the weight of a glass of water change depending on time?

- Does not change!

- What should I do to solve the glass problem at arm's length?

- It’s simple - you just need to put it!

- It’s exactly the same with life’s problems and internal conflicts. Even if they seem insignificant, but multiplied over time, they create significant difficulties and an inability to cope with them. If you think about your problem for five minutes, that’s one thing – but if your head is filled with your problem all day long, it can paralyze your whole life. The weight of the problem will not decrease from this, no matter how much you think about it. It needs to be resolved or postponed.

You don’t need to carry a heavy load inside that interferes with your life.

We need to figure this out. This is what psychotherapy is for!
