6 steps to overcoming internal obstacles to your goal

prepyatstviya_na_puti_k_tseliHow to achieve the goal?

It happens that we set ourselves a wonderful goal. We believe in its achievability, and begin to take the first steps towards it, but after the first bump we give up,  and turn back.  Of course, we begin to justify ourselves that we did not have enough strength, the conditions were not what we needed, the weather was not the same, and the goal was not so desirable! Do you know how this happens? Well there you go!  So how can you not lose faith in yourself with the first difficulties and still achieve what you want? Here are some useful rules:

1.  The goal must be realistic  and you must have control over it.

If your goal  changing other people or world peace is not something you personally can control. Therefore, such a goal is unattainable and unrealistic. Let the goal you set relate to your personal capabilities that you  you control. For example, “I want to become a person with whom it is pleasant to communicate.” The size of the goal should correspond to your capabilities  no need to imagine flights to Mars.

2. If there are hidden benefits in your goal?

There are always some benefits or losses for you in the process of achieving a goal and in the goal itself. Sometimes, if you think carefully, it becomes clear that the price for achieving a goal will be exorbitant. That is why, when you try to push yourself towards a goal, your whole nature resists it. And sometimes, on the contrary, awareness of hidden benefits can move you even further towards achieving it.

3. Make a detailed plan and write deadlines for implementation.

Make a detailed plan and set a deadline. You've probably noticed: a lot of things that need to be done really motivate you to work - there is no laziness. You handle everything great! This is all because you have a clear schedule and time boundaries that structure your time  and motivate you. Free time without an action plan and deadlines is completely fruitless. It seems like you have something to do, but you don’t know what to do. Therefore, it is very important to plan everything,  and also plan your free time.

4. Finish what you start.

The pile of unfinished tasks prevents us from starting new things. In the end, we don’t start something new and we can’t finish something old. So we get stuck in place, and explain to ourselves that laziness is again to blame.  Therefore, when you start something, it is useful to ask yourself “Why do I need this?” “What result do I expect from the work completed?”

 5. Work on hidden fears.

Most likely, you are afraid to achieve your goal if you are not moving towards it. What is your fear? What scares you?  Maybe you promised your mother something as a child? For example, they promised not to stand out or be like everyone else. To test yourself for hidden fear, answer yourself “What bad will happen if I achieve my goal?”, “What will be lost when I achieve my goal?”

6. Do you really need this?

Often people do not achieve their goals at all. Ask yourself: “Do I really want this?” “Why do I need this?” Maybe I want to prove something to my mom or dad (here your age doesn’t matter at all. You might be 10 years old, or maybe 60). Maybe you want to meet other people's expectations?  Or is this goal really your deepest desire and satisfies your innermost needs? In the second case, you will always have a sea of new ideas and energy to achieve.

I hope these ideas have helped you examine your goals and motivations as you work toward achieving them. And now you can throw off the burden of false illusions and motives and move towards what you really want.
