Brain: Instructions for Use

mozg_rukovodskvo_po_ekspluatacii

In order to use any device, it is important to understand how it works. Unfortunately, we often start reading the instructions when the device breaks down. I don’t want to draw parallels with the brain, but knowing its capabilities, what helps it and what hinders it will definitely help you increase your productivity and reduce stress. As you know, the more information you have, the less uncertainty, fear, and the more confident you act.

1.    The brain does not know how to distinguish fiction from facts.

If you imagine optimistic pictures of life more often, the more likely you will feel better. It’s not for nothing that a placebo (a sugared pill that looks exactly like the real one, but without active ingredients) often works no worse than the real thing.

2.    You cannot get tired of active mental activity.

The tired feeling you experience after hard work is not because your brain is tired. It is caused by your emotional state. This is proven by the fact that the chemical composition of the blood that supplies the brain is not changed, although venous blood changes its composition when tired.

3.    Negative thoughts need to be “cleansed”

Most of the thoughts that run through a person’s head are a product of past brain activity. This is why if you get hooked on negative thoughts, it is difficult to get rid of them. To change your worldview from negative to positive, you need to force your brain to react more often to positive events. Then he will be “cleansed” of negative thoughts.

4.    Thoughts guide your experience

If you actively dream about something, your brain will constantly look for things in your environment that support your dream.

For example, if you are afraid of being fired, you will most likely move towards dismissal, and if you dream of traveling to Rome, then life will be organized in such a way that you achieve this dream.

Thus guiding your life in the direction of achieving that dream. If you change your thoughts, your life experience will change. Any activity strengthens neural connections and the brain will begin to give you ideas on how to achieve your dreams faster.

5.    The brain needs to be trained

Although the brain is not a muscle, it is also beneficial for it to be in nature, healthy food, sleep, new experiences, exercise, and any mental activity that involves solving problems ( from crossword puzzles to playing chess and journaling).

6.    The brain never rests

The feeling that the head is “rested” has nothing to do with brain activity. This is mainly related to the processing of emotions. In a dream, the brain works even more intensely than in wakefulness, processing the impressions and emotions of the day.

7.    Active leisure - switching

Not all of us are equally successful in coping with the flow of negative information and thoughts that bombard our brain. In order for our immune system to rest, we need to switch it up - go in for sports or active recreation (walking, dancing or something where you will be actively moving). It is the switching of the immune system that helps the brain process negativity.

The more often you remember certain events, words and experiences, the stronger the neural connections around these memories. The strategy for dealing with negative experiences is mainly not to rethink them, but to remember more often other more positive events and experiences, so that the connections with these memories are stronger than with negative ones. When you try hard not to think about something, you think about it more than usual. If you yourself cannot cope with attacking thoughts, invite a psychotherapist by clicking the “sign up” button below.

9.    The brain doesn't hurt

Contrary to popular belief, the brain does not have receptors that perceive pain, it only reacts to it. Therefore, pain is mainly perceived by those tissues with which the brain is surrounded.

As you can see, brain problems are not related to the brain itself, but to what we fill it with. If you want to thoroughly understand the thoughts, conflicts and experiences that your brain constantly processes and free up its strength to achieve positive goals, please contact us.
